An original signed and numbered (53 of 1000) copy of this Biography of Letters form J.H. Chamberlayne an Artillery Lieutenant in the Army of Northern Virginia During the U.S. Civil War. The letters cover the span of 1860-November of 1865. Many illustrations. A great view of the Civil War from a lower level Confederate officer. Here is an original copy of "Hancock And English" by John W. Forney in good condition as shown. This book was published in 1880 during General Winfield Scott Hancock's candidacy for the U.S. President along with V.P. candidate William H English. The book contains complete biographys of both Candidates. Hancock and runningmate English eventually lost the race to James A. Garfield. Hancock was a well respected General of the Union 2nd Corps during the Civil War. The book itself is in good condition with some cover wear but no other significant damage. 7.75" X 5.5" 504pp. Hardbound. A great book with much Civil War History content.
